APW - Hamilton, Grade 992 with rare 14K gold factory case, 21J, 16S, 14K gold Hamilton Model 2 bar-over-crown recase, Montgomery white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#2473554. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.9 dwt (107.2 g). This Model 2 case in 14K gold version is very rare as Hamilton's pricing of this style limited its sales to a small handful of wealthy customers. To this cataloguer's eye the color of the present case appears to be somewhere intermediate between a yellow gold and a green gold shade.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, few micro-fine scratches, mild oxide to regulator spring and hub of larger winding wheel; flawless dial; nearly mint hands; case shows very light wear, profuse micro-fine scratches to rear, dings to band at 5:30 and 6, subtle slight ding near center rear evident as mild ripple of reflection, inner rim of case rear has a single set of additional mvt case screw witness marks which match to Hamilton's Grade 992B positions; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good thick glass crystal.
